Butte Schools Self-Funded Programs

My name is Monica Derkacz. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) living in Butte County for 30 years. During this time, I have worked in various therapeutic settings, including but not limited to Butte County Behavioral Health, Butte County Courts, and private practice. Before the Camp Fire, I worked as a Medical Social Worker for Feather River Adventist Health. I came to know and love the area and the people of the Ridge. Following the fire, BCOE hired me as a clinician to support faculty in the schools of our county, more specifically, those affected by the fire. This only endeared me more to the people working in the schools here on the Ridge. This last year, I began working for Paradise Unified School District as a staff-dedicated mental health clinician. Being a "therapeutic witness" and support for students and faculty has been an honor.

I believe that all individuals possess the ability to bring about the change they desire. Through therapeutic exploration, we will explore new and productive ways to help you develop coping and communication skills to attain your life goals. My work is guided by solution-focused therapy and other collaborative therapies, so you and I work together to find solutions that make your life more fulfilling. I provide a nonjudgmental, safe environment or "container" where you can build on strengths and ultimately lead a more satisfying life.

I seek to help people by providing treatment for a wide array of concerns, including anxiety, grief and loss, depression, relationship issues, addiction, and trauma. By respecting the human condition with its unique spiritual and psychological intricacies, we can co-create a healing experience.
